Damned Either Way

According to the paper, Harold Camping is an idiot.  The agnostics and the atheists loved it.  The lovers and purveyors of science won, and the faithful walked away embarrassed because this unknown preacher in Oakland had made a mockery of their great escape.

Let’s look at this a little: (1) science has made the bomb that can really make the doomsday occur.  Don’t need to have faith in God if you want the end of the world — science is all up to the task.  But if you value life, you will notice it is the advances in science and technology that has caused most of the damnation of the world, like pollution, radiation, the greenhouse effect, and global warming.  The advances were spurred on by science.  So has the ability to annihilation of the entire planet.  Hell on earth is only a red button away.

But (2)  let’s look at the faithful as well.  They have this great escape clause.  The believe that they will get a ticket out of here — beam me up Scotty.  They don’t have to take any responsibility for the mother earth do they.  The escape clause is a perfect cop-out of actually helping others too.  Only the saved will be taken, so why should you help others when you’ve got to get holy and ready for the trans-mitigation to the heaven-lies.  Do on to others as you do unto them.

Instead of using the great amount of money to help the hurting, the destitute and the ill, he uses it to pay for 5000 billboards.  Didn’t Judas have a problem when holding that silver bag.

For my take, it will make a lot of sense for the faithful to kill each other off with the tools that our goddess science has produced.  Yes the combination of the worse of both mindsets can choose the ultimate: doomsday.  However, it is more likely that the faithful humanist who hate the faithful will just want to wipe out any scent of faith.  Either way, you get doomsday — but that gives no place for that escape clause.

But according to the scripture, no human, including Jesus, knew the time — its supernatural.

Damned if you do, and damned if you think you can take that escape clause.  Go figure!

First of all I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I’d like
to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to find out how you center
yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I have had trouble clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there.
I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the
first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Thanks!

I like to read a bit, and then get a focus. I write on about 7 blogs, one for work, and in my job I’m an analyst for a university where I write instructional content and evals for technical, so writing is an every day thing. I’ve written three books that are published and about 3 that aren’t. The thing is I’m very disconnected from society except for reading. I’ve move too much so writing is my voice to the world. One blog I have has had excellent traffic, and I like writing on it as I have a very random focus. Yet, I find bringing two unconnected concepts together and reflecting on how they actually have a corresponding meaning — that’s the best I can do in writing.
Ever tried using a voice system to just blurt out your thoughts, then writing from that mass of words? Find the point where you want to write to is also a great focus tool.

Is History Funny?

We have all heard the expression “history repeats itself.” And so we also know that human beings have a tendency to forget harmful and even wicked events. We bury them. And once we bury the history, do we forget it? It struck me today that when Jerry Lewis died, people start talking about the film […]

Of Perfecting the Human Genome

Of Perfecting the Human Genome

What do we do when we’re all physically and mentally perfect? Congratulate ourselves on eradicating the need to help each other?  Shouldn’t everyone fend for themselves?  Is human society evolving or turning neanderthal? It’s always best to start a philosophical piece with questions. How perfect is the human race today?  We still have a world […]

The Trash Economy

In the trash economy, they even pay you for picking up trash. You get fully state benefits, medical, and retirement. All you have to do is vote! The state will give you all you need to live in one handy-dandy, little white-plastic shopping bag. It’s all about the taxes. Without a balanced approach, states are […]

America the oligarchy: Cheating for the rich

Ever since I was a kid, I hated the idea of cheating. I didn’t like cheating because cheating made competition null and void. When someone cheated, they were usually a bully type of person. I suspect that’s the same today. People who are really highly competitive, and love to grind down opponents tend to want […]
